International Innkeepers Exchange |
My name is Philippe Papadimitriou. I operate an inn located in the Lozere region of France where I host hikers, tourists, and people of many nationalities. This is something I love very much! For the past few years, I have also been proposing to innkeepers in other countries (notably the USA, Canada, Morocco, Poland and Australia) to exchange visits at each other's inns and B&B's. All of us have found this to be a very enriching experience...and, we always learn from each other. We have become friends!
Here is my proposal: Might you be interested in spending few days in my Guesthouse "L'Etoile" in exchange for few days in your Bed and Breakfast, Inn, Country-Inn, Country Resort, Guesthouse, Guest-Ranch, Farmstay or Hotel ?
The service I provide is a little more than the typical US Bed and Breakfast or Hotel. I provide rooms with a full evening dinner and full morning breakfast which is called in France "half board." I propose to exchange for similar services with you. I think it would be a great chance for us to meet each other and exchange ideas, learn about our hospitality businesses as well as profit by enabling inexpensive travel for us both in each other's countries.
Below I have listed our website and hope you will take a look at it. Also, you will find several links in this email and at our website to learn more about this wonderful area of France.
"L'Etoile" (The Star) is a completely remodeled hotel which includes a beautiful garden and park along the "Allier" River located in La Bastide-Puylaurent a small village in the Cevennes mountains in Southern France, between the "Lozere and Ardeche" regions at 1024 meters (3,300 feet) in altitude. "L'Etoile". We serve delicious home cooked meals in the restaurant dining room where we eat all together (We call in french "tables d'hotes").
Every type of recreational opportunity can be found here. Very close by is the National Park of the Cevennes containing mountains up to 5000 feet and which is famous in France for being a beautifully clean environmental area. There are long hiking trails (GR) GR®70Stevenson trail , GR®700Regordane way , GR®7, GR®72, GR®68, GR®4 and as well loops country trails (GRP) of Cevenol, Tanargue, Montagne Ardechoise, Chassezac or Mont Lozere.
Robert Louis Stevenson walked across Massif Central region with his donkey Modestine from Monastier sur Gazeille in Haute-Loire (20km south of Puy en Velay) to St Jean du Gard (27km from Ales). Stevenson has been through La Bastide-Puylaurent and stayed overnight at the Abbey Notre Dame des Neiges (3km from La Bastide). He related his adventure in his book "Across the Cevennes with a donkey".
The Lozere department is a relatively unknown but a completely authentic and preserved region of France. It is the perfect place to have a relaxing holiday and enjoy a very pleasant contact with nature.
Most of the villages like La Garde-Guerin, Pradelles, Chateauneuf de Randon, Thines, Les Vans, Le Puy en Velay, Genolhac, Le Cheylard l'Eveque have kept their stamp and their heritage. Chapels and castles dating most of the 11th or 12th century. The history of France is very active in the region: Camisards, Regordane, Duguesclin, wars between Catholics and Protestants, wolf of the Gevaudan, etc ... Once you visit this area, you will remember it always as one of the prettiest, most peaceful, uncrowded areas of France.
If this proposal appeals to you, please respond to me. I would like very much welcome you and visit your place. A Friendly atmosphere, good meals, home-made bread and belgium beer are waiting for you.
Sincerely yours,
Philippe
